About HTTPSmv
HTTPSmv turns your phone into a file server that a computer can reach through its web browser. Start it, and the phone shows an address and a password; type them into a laptop on the same WiFi and the phone's storage is there in the browser, ready to look through.
Everything is drawn as a proper page rather than a file listing: folders and files with icons, sorting, search, thumbnails for pictures, and video that seeks properly instead of downloading whole before it plays. Drag files onto the page to send them the other way.
The connection is encrypted with TLS 1.3, and a password stands between anyone on the network and your files. Nothing goes near the internet, no account is involved, and no company sees what you move.
Moving a file off a phone is something most people need to do far more often than they expect, and every other way of doing it is worse: a cable you have to find, a cloud account that takes your files somewhere else first, or Bluetooth, which is slow enough that you give up. Easy and convenient: it gets out of your way so you can get the transfer done. An incredibly useful app for what it does.
What it is for
Getting files off a phone is a small task that is annoyingly hard. A cable needs the right cable and a machine that recognises the phone. Cloud storage means uploading your files to somebody else's computer, waiting twice, and trusting them with the contents. Bluetooth is slow enough to be useless for video.
HTTPSmv is none of those. The phone and the computer are already on the same WiFi, so the file goes directly between them at the speed of the network. There is nothing to install on the computer -- it uses the browser that is already open -- and nothing to install on the phone beyond this app.
It is most useful for the things that are worst by other means: a folder of holiday photographs, a long video, a backup you want off the phone before you reset it, or a document you need on the laptop in the next thirty seconds.

Every version of this app is signed with the same key. If that second value ever changes, it did not come from the same hands — and Android will refuse to install it over the one you have.
